NST stands for Non Stress Test. It is non invasive monitoring of baby. They put two monitors on Birth Mom's belly and hold them there with stretchy straps. One tells us if she's having contractions and the other shows us baby's heart rate. They are looking to make sure that baby's heart rate is within normal ranges and that the heart rate increases a bit when baby moves (that tells us she's getting all the oxygen she needs).
Today's NST went well. Ellie's heart rate looked good and reacted appropriately when she moved around. Birth Mom isn't having any contractions. All of that is good news and encouraging that Eleanor is healthy and getting the oxygen she needs (which they are especially attentive to in babies with Intra Uterine Growth Restriction).
A full term pregnancy is 40 weeks. Today Eleanor is 34 weeks, 1 day. Next Wednesday we have another appointment with the maternal/fetal specialist that has been doing the ultrasounds throughout the pregnancy. That should be the last time we see him and I expect that he will give us more insight on when labor will be induced.
Please continue to keep Birth Mom and Eleanor in your prayers.
As for the new house, things are coming along. We are still hoping to close next Friday and we are so excited to get moved and settled.
