The first dose of medication to induce labor was given at 10am, so we are now 5 1/2 hours into induction and pretty much nothing is happening. Some small and irregular contractions, but that's it. No change in dilation or other progress in labor. Baby's heart rate baseline was pretty low for a bit and that concerned the doctor enough to say no more eating or drinking because if it went much lower then a c section would be necessary. They repositioned her in the bed and started IV fluids. That seems to have helped Ellie's heart rate a lot. Birth Mom is nervous... And so are we. Things could still happen naturally, but I'm not sure they will. That alters the plan of how things will go after delivery. We've talked to the nurses and think that all will be okay for Drew & I to be with Ellie in the nursery while Birth Mom is in recovery, but it does change the situation a bit... as far as when our attorney can come and Birth Mom can sign the consent for adoption. It will all be fine, but prayers for this are appreciated. The most important thing is a safe delivery for Birth Mom and Eleanor. I have faith that the doctors and nurses here will do all they can to ensure that.
