Rain

A cold front came through at the end of last week, bringing with it colder temperatures and rain.  Our reservations at Devils Den with Drew's siblings and their families had been in place for more than a month.  The threat of severe weather and flash flooding kept us home Friday night, but we got up Saturday morning and went camping.  It was soggy and chilly, but I'm glad we went.

She was so excited to get in the hiking backpack.
Great little hike to the waterfall (that was really flowing from all the rain).

 Jessica & JR

Nonnie, Pat, Alex, and Corbin went home before bed.  Jessica & JR braved the 39 degree temperature so JR could sleep in the tent for the first time.  Drew and I were grateful for the warmth and comfort of the camper, but Eleanor had a really hard time sleeping.  I'm really hoping we get this sleeping thing down, because so far Eleanor's camper sleeping is hit or miss.  I'd be lying if I failed to mention that we all had a good long nap when we got home on Sunday.
Monday was beautiful again and we enjoyed snack time at the picnic table and played outside all afternoon.

video: she's discovered that her playhouse has a sink and her current favorite thing is pretending to wash her hands.  (when she realizes that I'm filming, she runs around the playhouse and says, "Boo!" and then yells for Mac.)

I've been struggling with sinus pressure headaches for a week now and Monday night was the worst.  Allergy meds and decongestants aren't cutting it, so yesterday we stayed inside (even though it was beautiful outside).
When we ran errands yesterday morning, Eleanor was all cute in her little dress, leggings, and Converse.  She lost the shoes before nap, lost the leggings after nap, added these black dress shoes at some point in the afternoon, then walked around with a giant spoon and empty box of mac & cheese while I made dinner in the evening.  I wish you could see her skinned knees in this picture, they really round out the "I've got my own style" look that she had going on.  I love it.
It's been raining and storming all night & morning here, so it's a pajamas at home kind of day.  She may not be drinking from a bottle anymore, but she loves giving her baby doll a bottle.
In case anyone is counting down with me... Drew and I leave for NYC on Friday!  I'm so excited, but also a little anxious.  I'm praying that I'll have peace over leaving Eleanor (I've never left her over night before!) and that I'll be able to really relax & enjoy this weekend adventure with my husband.
